Sedef Arat-Koç is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Toronto, where her thesis focused on the Peasants, Hegemony, and the Politics of ‘Normal Times’ through cases involving the Republican People's Party and the Democrat Party in Turkey. Her research interests include immigration policy and citizenship, with a particular focus on the experiences of immigrant women, as well as transnational feminism, imperialism, racial politics, and the reconfiguration of social and political identities within the context of neoliberal globalization. Currently, she is investigating the concept of 'whiteness' in Turkey within the broader cultural and political landscape shaped by class identity and the geopolitical shifts of the post-Cold War era.
