Professor Dr. Seiran Heshami

Biography

Seiran Heshami is an Assistant Professor in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary, specializing in sustainable systems engineering. Her work focuses on the intersection of engineering and social innovation, particularly in developing sustainable transportation systems and smart cities. With a robust academic background in Civil Engineering, she holds a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from the University of Calgary, as well as an Executive MBA from IAU, Iran. Her research interests include urban infrastructure network modeling, predictive modeling simulation, and climate justice, with active participation in various university strategic initiatives and research projects. Dr. Heshami is also a licensed Professional Engineer, recognized by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Through her innovative approaches, she aims to contribute to more sustainable, resilient urban infrastructure management. In addition to her academic pursuits, she is involved in NSERC funded projects that address complex challenges related to climate-neutral cities.
