Biography

Sejal Tyle Hathi is a board-certified physician and nationally recognized public health leader with over 15 years of experience. She serves as the 4th permanent Director of the Oregon Health Authority, appointed by Governor Tina Kotek and unanimously confirmed by the Oregon Senate. Hathi oversees health care, public health services, policies, and programs for the state of Oregon. Previously, she was the deputy health commissioner and state health officer in New Jersey and held a position as Senior Policy Advisor for Public Health in the Biden White House, where she led initiatives on mental health, climate health, public health preparedness, and supply chain policy. In addition to her role in the Oregon Health Authority, Hathi has held joint faculty appointments as an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed her clinical training in internal medicine and primary care at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Hathi received her B.S. with honors from Yale University, and her M.D./M.B.A. from Stanford University, where she was a Harry S. Truman Scholar and a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow.
