Dr. Sejla Imamovic

Biography

Šejla Imamović is an Assistant Professor specializing in European Human Rights Law at the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. She has a strong academic background, having previously served as a teaching fellow at University College Maastricht and worked as a Ph.D. researcher and lecturer at both Maastricht University and Hasselt University in Belgium. Her educational qualifications include a PhD in European Law from Maastricht University, a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts from University College Maastricht, and an LL.M. in European Law obtained cum laude from Maastricht University. Šejla's primary research interests encompass fundamental rights law within the European Union, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between the European Convention on Human Rights and national law. Her work has been published in prestigious journals such as the European Law Review and the European Journal of Human Rights. She is also the author of the monograph 'The Architecture of Fundamental Rights in the European Union,' published by Hart Publishing in 2022. As a member of the Maastricht Centre for European Law and the Montesquieu Institute, she takes an active role in research and teaching. Şejla also coordinates the course on European Human Rights and acts as a guest lecturer for various courses including Constitutional Law and European Fundamental Rights Law, while coaching students for the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, where her team has achieved success in recent years.
