Biography

Selby Conrad is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University's Warren Alpert Medical School. She serves as a Staff Psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital and is affiliated with the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Bradley/Hasbro Children's Research Center. With a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas and postdoctoral fellowships with a focus on clinical research in adolescent HIV prevention and the psychosocial consequences of substance use, Dr. Conrad has extensive experience working with high-risk youth and their families. She is co-director of the Substance Abuse Treatment Team at the Rhode Island Training School, where she conducts forensic mental health evaluations for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Her research interests lie at the intersection of trauma, substance use, and high-risk behaviors among gender-diverse adolescents in the juvenile justice system.
