Biography

Dr. Selene Etches is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University. Her research focuses on knowledge translation, pharmacotherapy, and education. She is particularly interested in outcome evaluations for the CHOICES program, risk and protective factors for adolescent substance users, sleep disturbances among substance users, and primary prevention programs. Dr. Etches has contributed to several publications, including works on screening mental health and substance abuse difficulties in adolescents and the development of integrated youth concurrent disorder treatment programs. Additionally, she actively engages in teaching, having conducted multiple didactic sessions on substance use disorders and youth concurrent disorders. She is a member of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Etches has also led various invited lectures and workshops on topics pertaining to adolescent withdrawal management and substance use disorders, showcasing her commitment to educating healthcare professionals.
