Biography

Selim Suner, MD, MS, FACEP, graduated from Brown University with a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Suner is currently a Professor of Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Engineering at Brown University, leading initiatives in disaster preparedness and response. As an international expert in emergency preparedness, he has delivered over 100 lectures globally. His research focuses on neural control of movement, disaster mass gathering medicine, carbon monoxide toxicity, hyperbaric medicine, and asthma management. Dr. Suner has received several awards, including the SAEM Neuroscience Fellowship and recognition for his contributions to disaster medicine. He has been involved in multiple disaster deployments, including the World Trade Center attacks and Hurricane Katrina, and serves on various committees at state and national levels. His funded research involves several large-scale disaster preparedness projects, as well as studies on non-invasive monitoring techniques for trauma patients.
