Dr. Semih Cayci

Biography

Semih Cayci is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Mathematics specializing in Machine Learning at RWTH Aachen University. His research focuses on Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning, including Deep Learning Theory, Reinforcement Learning, Applied Probability, and Optimization Theory. Prior to his current position, he was an NSF TRIPODS Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Cayci earned his Doctorate in Philosophy from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ohio State University. His work has been published in various esteemed journals, where he has contributed significantly to the fields of Machine Learning and data science. He is known for his lectures on topics such as Stochastic Analysis, Mathematical Foundations of Reinforcement Learning, and has mentored several PhD and MSc students, helping to advance knowledge in the statistical learning and optimization domains.
