Semih Eser is a professor in Energy Geo-Environmental Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include the reactivity and characterization of cokes and carbons, mechanisms of coke deposition, and the molecular analysis of petroleum feedstocks. He utilizes tools such as polarized-light microscopy, SEM, TEM, X-ray diffraction, and other spectroscopic analyses to understand the formation pathways of carbon materials. Eser's contribution to education and research has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Distinguished Service Award from the American Chemical Society in 2022 and several teaching and service awards throughout his career.
