Dr. Semiha Denktaş

Biography

Semiha Denktaş studied Clinical & Health Psychology at Utrecht University and Integration & Migration Studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she obtained her PhD focusing on health care use among elderly migrants in the Netherlands. Previously, she played a crucial role in establishing Erasmus University College, serving as the Head of the Social & Behavioural Science Department until September 2018. Since then, she has led the Behavioural Change pillar at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences in Rotterdam. Additionally, she holds the position of Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at Erasmus University. Denktaş has extensive experience in managing large-scale, multidisciplinary research programs. In 2017, she initiated the Behavioural Insights Group Rotterdam (BIG’R) HEALTHY’R in collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, where she continues to serve as Academic Director. Her research focuses on behavioral studies aimed at promoting improved mental and physical health, particularly targeting marginalized and vulnerable groups. She is also actively involved in various organizations aimed at enhancing the participation and empowerment of women in academia.
