Senthil Arumugam obtained his PhD from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, where he focused on the self-organization of proteins involved in bacterial cell division. He conducted post-doctoral research at the Curie Institute in Paris under the guidance of Prof. Patricia Bassereau and Prof. Ludger Johannes, concentrating on protein-membrane interactions and cellular trafficking. In September 2016, he joined the University of New South Wales as an independent group leader, where he established Lattice Light-Sheet Imaging infrastructure focused on endosomal trafficking. Since October 2019, he has been a group leader at the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, where his lab investigates fundamental questions related to intracellular trafficking, cell fate specification, and pattern formation using advanced imaging techniques. His research interests lie in understanding complex properties arising from molecular interactions, with a primary focus on endosomal trafficking at the single-cell level and intercellular communications.
