Biography

Seonghwan Kim is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary. He earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University, followed by a PhD from the University of Tennessee in Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering. Kim has held postdoctoral positions at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Alberta before joining UCalgary. In 2013, he founded the Nano/Micro-Sensors and Sensing Systems Laboratory, focusing on sensor development and characterization techniques for nanomaterials. He is also involved in the Pipeline Engineering Centre and a founding director of ESPARK Energy Inc., which develops technologies for the energy sector.
