Dr. Sepehr Assadi

Biography

Sepehr Assadi is an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of Graduate Studies at the Cheriton School of Computer Science, University of Waterloo. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. He has a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Sharif University of Technology obtained in 2013. His research interests are deeply rooted in the theoretical foundations of computer science with a focus on big data analysis. He explores sublinear algorithms, lower bounds, and models of computation, particularly in processing massive datasets through streaming and distributed communication. His work involves massively parallel computation and sublinear time algorithms, marrying computer science with practical applications. In addition to these, Assadi's interests extend to algorithmic graph theory, communication complexity, online algorithms, and algorithmic game theory, making significant contributions to the field.
