Biography

Sepideh Carvounis is a Houston native who graduated from Stratford High School and attended the Honors Program at the University of Houston. She joined UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2018. Prior to her academic appointment, Carvounis practiced general dentistry in the Houston metro area, beginning in 2010. She was a National Health Service Corps Scholar, serving as a general dentist at Good Neighbor Healthcare Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, from 2010 to 2015. She has a passion for serving underserved populations in Houston and has continued her commitment to public health alongside her private practice since joining UTHealth. In addition to her dedication to public health dentistry, Carvounis is deeply committed to academic dentistry and finds great fulfillment in teaching and mentoring outstanding students in the clinic. She currently resides in Houston with her husband, a vitreoretinal surgeon, and their five children.
