Dr. Septimiu Murgu

Biography

Septimiu Murgu is a physician specializing in interventional pulmonology with extensive experience in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures. As a professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Medicine, he has focused on advancing the understanding of airway disorders including tracheobronchomalacia (TBM) and excessive dynamic airway collapse (EDAC). His research has significantly contributed to the field through various projects aimed at improving airflow dynamics and the classification of related disorders. Murgu collaborates with international researchers and engineers to explore multimodal bronchoscopic imaging and has been involved in developing educational curricula centered on lung cancer and bronchoscopy.
