Dr. Serena Hu

Biography

Serena Hu is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon and professor at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Hu completed her residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and underwent fellowship training in spine and scoliosis surgery at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center in California. With extensive experience in treating various spinal conditions including scoliosis, kyphosis, lumbar spine fractures, spondylolisthesis, disc degeneration, and spinal stenosis, Dr. Hu is committed to creating customized care plans for her patients. She has served as the principal investigator for numerous clinical trials and studies, securing multiple research grants from prestigious organizations. Her research interests focus on the effects of preoperative pain medication on surgical outcomes and strategies to reduce complications in spine surgery. With over 145 publications in peer-reviewed journals, and contributions to numerous book chapters, Dr. Hu is widely recognized as a leading expert in spine surgery, frequently invited to lecture internationally. She is actively involved in professional organizations, having served as past president of the Scoliosis Research Society and the American Orthopedic Association.
