Biography

Sergei Popov is a Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the Division of Light Matter Physics. He obtained his PhD in Applied Physics from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1998. With a rich professional history, he has held positions at Ericsson Telecom AB and Acreo AB before joining KTH. Since 2016, he has been a full professor at KTH and has taken on various visiting professor roles globally, including at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Zhejiang University, and the University of Tokyo. His research interests focus on nano-photonics, nano-plasmonics, high-capacity optical communication, organic lasers, and novel optical materials, making significant contributions in both academic and industrial settings. Popov has authored and co-authored over 300 journal papers and conference presentations, in addition to holding 11 patents and delivering numerous invited and keynote talks. He is also involved in editorial responsibilities and serves on various conference committees.
