Biography

Sergey Baryshev graduated in 2004 from St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a Master of Science in Applied Physics/Materials Science. He received his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2008, where he conducted work with emphasis on high-temperature superconductor materials and devices. Following his doctoral studies, he became a postdoctoral fellow in the Surface Chemistry Group at the Materials Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory from 2010 to 2013. His research contributions focus on electron emission in materials, evidenced by several publications in esteemed journals such as ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces and Applied Physics Letters. He has received accolades for his work, including the Gold Medal Award at the 37th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, Switzerland, and a scholarship for the Ph.D. Students program from the Foundation Assistance for Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE) in Russia between 2007 and 2009.
