Biography

Sergey Ivanov is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Northwestern University. His specialization includes the history and culture of Byzantium, as well as Byzantino–Slavic relations. He has published more than a hundred scholarly articles and books, focusing on various aspects of Byzantine studies. Some notable works include 'Search Constantinople: Guidebook to Byzantine Istanbul and Surroundings' (Istanbul, 2022), which was translated into Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian, and Turkish, 'Pearls Before Swine: Missionary Work in Byzantium' (Paris, 2015), translated into Russian, Czech, and Serbian, and 'Holy Fools in Byzantium' (Oxford, 2006), translated into Russian, Serbian, Czech, and Romanian. Ivanov is also a Corresponding Member of the British Academy.
