Biography

Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences at Monash University, Sergio Uribe Arancibia has a rich background in biomedical imaging and image processing, particularly within the fields of Cardiovascular MRI and biomedical engineering. He previously served as a full professor in the Radiology Department at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he also headed the Major Biomedical Engineering program. Uribe Arancibia holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from PUC and completed his PhD in Imaging Sciences at King’s College London. He has authored over 100 papers in high-impact journals and presented more than 150 proceedings at conferences. As a grant recipient of over $10 million from national and international agencies, he has contributed significantly to medical innovations. He actively supervises postgraduate and undergraduate students, serving as the director of diploma programs in magnetic resonance imaging at PUC, training over 300 students from Chile and other Latin American countries. Uribe Arancibia is a member of prominent scientific societies including the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and the Radiological Society of North America, and has participated in initiatives by the Chilean Research Council.
