Dr. Seth Guikema

Biography

Seth Guikema is a Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. He is also the Co-Director of the Center for Risk Analysis and Informed Decision Engineering. His academic career has focused on various aspects of risk management, particularly in relation to disaster risk assessment and critical infrastructure. Dr. Guikema has extensive experience in predictive data analytics and urban sustainability, applying analytics to solve real-world problems. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and has additional degrees in Civil Engineering from both Stanford and Cornell University. His research interests span energy sustainability, resilience, and the analysis of risks associated with various environmental and infrastructural systems. Throughout his career, Dr. Guikema has contributed to both academic and professional society memberships, fostering collaborations that bridge theory and application.
