Dr. Seungjeung Kim

Biography

SeungJeung Kim is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, specializing in Buddhist Studies and Mediterranean Antiquity. His research focuses on the intersections of art and religion, particularly examining Greek art and architecture alongside Gandharan Buddhist art. Through his work, Kim explores themes of time and temporality in religious and artistic contexts. His role as the Director of the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Centre for Buddhist Studies allows him to lead initiatives that promote understanding and scholarship in Buddhist studies. Kim is committed to interdisciplinary approaches that shed light on the cultural exchanges between Buddhism and the ancient Mediterranean world. He is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students in the fields of art history and religious studies, fostering a rich environment for academic inquiry and exploration.
