Capt. Dr. Seyedvahid Vakili is an experienced professional with over 20 years of expertise in the maritime industry and academia. His commitment to academic excellence led him to become the inaugural graduate specializing in Maritime Energy Management and successfully complete his Ph.D. with a focus on maritime decarbonization and shipping sustainability, enhancing energy efficiency, and reducing emissions. Prior to joining the University of Southampton, Dr. Vakili served as a Research Associate on various projects at the World Maritime University, further strengthening his expertise in maritime sustainability. He emphasizes the development and deployment of Zero Near-Zero technologies, such as alternative fuels, renewable energy systems, and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), while promoting energy efficiency across the maritime value chain. His research is characterized by collaboration with prestigious organizations, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union (EU).
