Shaahin Filizadeh received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 1996 and 1998, respectively, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, Canada, in 2004. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He also serves as an editor for IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion and IEEE Power Engineering Letters, and as an associate editor for the IEEE Systems Journal. Dr. Filizadeh's research focuses on power systems, power electronics, and modeling simulation of power-electronic intensive networks. He has conducted extensive research in advanced energy conversion systems, power electronic converters for motor drive applications, and specialized modeling methods, with particular interest in low-inertia systems and battery energy storage converters.
