Dr. Shabnam Jabari

Biography

Shabnam Jabari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). She received her PhD from UNB in 2015, focusing on 3D Information Supported Urban Change Detection using Multi-Angle Multi-Sensor Imagery, which resulted in a commercialized patented technology. Shabnam also holds an MSc and BSc in Civil-Surveying Engineering from the University of Tehran, obtained in 2009 and 2005, respectively. Her current research interests include 3D city models, 3D GIS, urban area change detection, and multi-modal mapping, with a specific focus on the application of Geospatial Data in Disaster Management, particularly in damage detection and flood mapping in urban areas. Jabari's research outcomes have been recognized by several organizations, including the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and NSERC. She is also an active member of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS-SCT) and has held several positions within the organization, including Secretary and chairing various working groups. Additionally, Shabnam is a vice president of the Canadian Institute of Geomatics and a licensed member of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists New Brunswick (APEGNB). Her academic contributions include teaching courses in GIS and Remote Sensing.
