Biography

Dr. Mittal acquired training expertise in spectral imaging, cancer biology, pathology, and artificial intelligence. She is passionate about interfacing engineering technologies with clinical science to develop systems useful for patient care, particularly in technology-driven cancer management. Her current clinical approaches rely on physical changes in cells and manual observation of alterations in tissue morphology and average expression of molecular markers. New technological and analytical advances are needed to capture tumor heterogeneity at the spatial-molecular level for improved patient care. The Mittal Research Lab investigates molecular, genomic, and immunological signatures of cancer to develop individualized disease management approaches. This includes utilizing multiplexed measurements combined with artificial intelligence to enable the development of disease progression models and early interventions that lead to improved outcomes and personalized treatment.
