Biography

Shahram Heydari is a Lecturer at the University of Southampton within the Transportation Research Group, part of the Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering. Prior to this role, he was an NSERC Research Fellow at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London. His doctoral research focused on traffic safety and introduced Bayesian nonparametrics as a viable alternative method within the transportation safety research community. His expertise includes transportation safety, travel demand and behavior, traffic-related air pollution, and statistical modeling. Shahram has collaborated with various institutions and disciplines such as transportation engineering, public health, and environmental sciences. He has received several prestigious academic awards, including the Alexander Graham Bell doctoral scholarship. Shahram serves on the editorial board of the journal Analytic Methods in Accident Research and is a member of the Interuniversity Research Centre for Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT). His current research examines the implications of emerging transport technologies on traffic safety, air quality, and the social and spatial inequalities related to transportation planning. He is currently supervising multiple PhD students and teaches various courses related to transportation management and data analysis techniques.
