Dr. Shahrzad Esmaeili

Biography

Shahrzad Esmaeili is a Professor in Mechanical Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She specializes in Processing-Structure-Property Relationships, Precipitation Hardening Related Phenomena, and Metallic Biomaterials. Her research incorporates multi-length scale characterization, modeling, advanced surface modification, light alloys, additive manufacturing, and nanotechnology. Esmaeili has published several influential works in esteemed journals, focusing on topics such as mechanical properties of additive-manufactured titanium structures and the evolution mechanisms of aging aluminum alloys. She earned her Doctorate in Metals and Materials Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 2002, following her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Shiraz University in Materials Science Engineering. Her ongoing contributions to the field are characterized by her commitment to advancing the understanding of metallic materials and their applications in engineering and technology.
