Biography

Shai Dubey is an instructor at Queen's Faculty of Law, where he teaches courses in negotiations, cross-cultural management, ethics, and domestic and international business law entrepreneurship as part of the Smith School of Business. He serves as the academic director for project courses in MBA programs and the MIB program. After graduating from Seneca College in 1984, Shai began his career as a commercial pilot. In 1985, he founded and ran an executive aircraft charter company and flight training school based in Toronto. Following the sale of his company, he worked as an aviation consultant, providing strategic regulatory advice to both Canadian and foreign clients. In 1994, Shai completed law school and articled at major law firms in Toronto, specializing in corporate commercial law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and aviation law. In 1999, he became the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Quicklaw Inc., a leading provider of legal online database services in Canada. After the company's sale to a multinational corporation in 2002, Shai returned to private practice in law and joined Queen's University on a full-time basis in 2006.
