Professor Shailesh Chandrasekharan is a faculty member in the Department of Physics at Duke University. His research centers on understanding quantum field theories in a non-perturbative manner, with a focus on lattice formulations of theories, particularly in highly correlated fermionic systems. He is also deeply interested in condensed matter, particle, and nuclear physics. A significant part of his work involves developing novel Monte Carlo algorithms to tackle complex problems within these domains. He is especially intrigued by solutions to the difficult sign problem that affects quantum systems. Since becoming a professor in 2018, he has contributed to advancing the field through various publications, grants, and research initiatives.
