Dr. Shaili Jain

Biography

Dr. Jain is a board-certified psychiatrist with specialty expertise in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and primary mental health integrated care, particularly in women's health psychiatry. As a health services researcher affiliated with the National Center for PTSD, she focuses on developing innovative ways to enhance the reach of mental healthcare for underserved populations affected by PTSD. Her work is widely recognized for elucidating the role of paraprofessionals and peers in treating American veterans with PTSD. Dr. Jain serves as Psychiatry representative on Stanford's Executive Committee for the Association of Adjunct Clinical Faculty (AACF) and is a council member of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty (ACF) within Stanford's Department of Psychiatry. She is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and an internationally recognized leader in communicating public trauma related to PTSD. Additionally, she writes a psychology blog on PTSD and has authored an acclaimed non-fiction trade book titled 'Unspeakable Mind: Stories of Trauma and Healing on the Frontlines of PTSD Science,' which was nominated for the National Book Award. Her essays and commentaries on trauma and PTSD have been featured in major media outlets such as BBC, CNN, New York STAT, Newsweek, and the Washington Post, as well as on TEDx and public radio.
