Biography

Shajy Isac is a statistician trained demographer with a PhD in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences in Mumbai, India. With over 24 years of experience, he has designed and implemented large-scale studies and established monitoring systems in the areas of HIV/AIDS, health, and maternal child health. Dr. Isac leads a large research team with diverse expertise and provides ongoing technical support for epidemic appraisals and research studies globally, particularly in South Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. He is a member of technical expert groups for HIV/AIDS intervention programs across governments worldwide and has authored over 150 papers, mentoring research students both in India and abroad. His expertise extends to designing large-scale surveys in health and education, emphasizing sampling and survey methods. Collaborative work includes studies for major international and national donors such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, and the World Bank, along with various government ministries.
