Professor Dr. Shalev Ben David

Biography

Shalev Ben-David is an Associate Professor at the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science and the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo. His research interests focus primarily on computational complexity and quantum computing, including studies on Boolean functions. He has made significant contributions to the field, publishing numerous papers that delve into the intricacies of these areas. Shalev's work also engages with the theoretical aspects of computer science, exploring the limitations and potentials of quantum algorithms and their implications in various computational problems. He obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2017, and holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT as well as a Bachelor of Mathematics in Pure Mathematics, specifically Combinatorics and Optimization, from the University of Waterloo. He is actively involved in mentoring graduate students in his research group, guiding them through rigorous academic challenges in computer science.
