Biography

Shamari Reid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at NYU Steinhardt. He emphasizes the importance of radical love as a moral imperative in social justice education and strives to cultivate culturally sustaining school communities. Additionally, Reid's recent book, "Humans Teach: A Guide to Centering Love, Justice, and Liberation in Schools," highlights his commitment to fostering classroom environments where literacy can thrive and students can develop personally significant ideas. He is dedicated to reimagining educational practices through a lens of love and justice, aiming to create inclusive learning experiences that resonate with diverse student identities.
