Dr. Shamel Addas

Biography

Shamel Addas is an Associate Professor and Distinguished Research Fellow of Digital Technology at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. His academic journey began with a PhD from McGill University, followed by various teaching and research positions, including an Assistant Professorship at IESEG School of Management in France. His research interests center around the impacts of digital technology, particularly on human interactions with artificial intelligence (AI), and the phenomenon of misinformation on social media. He has published extensively in top-tier journals such as MIS Quarterly and the Journal of Management Information Systems, providing insights into the double-edged nature of technology use in work settings. His teaching spans a variety of programs, including Professional Graduate Programs and Academic Graduate Programs at Queen’s, along with international teaching assignments in Egypt and France. Shamel has received numerous accolades, including the New Researcher Achievement Award, and has spoken at leading international conferences, contributing significantly to the fields of information systems and technology management.
