Dr. Shamir Chandarana

Biography

Shamir Chandarana completed his medical school and residency training in Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery at Western University, London, Ontario. He pursued a 2-year fellowship in Head Neck Cancer Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction at the University of Michigan. In 2010, he joined the section of Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery at the University of Calgary and is now a core member of the Head and Neck Surgery Program. His clinical practice focuses on head and neck cancer surgery, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, and reconstructive surgery. His research interests encompass clinical outcomes in head and neck surgery, biomarker research, and the epidemiology of thyroid cancer surgery. He is actively involved in improving clinical care pathways and streamlining complex treatment algorithms in the management of head and neck cancer. His published works include studies on lymph node metastasis, prognostic markers, and quality of life in patients undergoing various surgical interventions in his field.
