Biography

Shan E Ahmed Raza is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick. He joined Warwick following a postdoctoral position at the Institute of Cancer Research, UK, where he worked on the TRACERx project funded by Cancer Research UK. Previously, he was a research fellow in the Warwick Computer Science department on a BBSRC-funded project investigating the origins of new beta cells during pregnancy. Dr. Raza obtained his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, in 2008, and his MS in Systems Engineering from the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Islamabad, in 2010. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Warwick in 2014, focusing on the detection of biomedical anomalies using multiplexed images. Currently, he is associated with the Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Centre at Warwick, where he is the Principal Investigator of the Histomaps project and a Co-Principal Investigator for the Precision Vision project. His research primarily revolves around Computational Pathology, particularly in developing algorithms that integrate machine learning with the analysis of tumor microenvironments. Dr. Raza has led initiatives aimed at enhancing interoperability in healthcare and has been involved in the deployment of AI algorithms for Computational Pathology through collaborations with project teams like MONAI.
