Biography

Shana Ruggenberg is the Director of the Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She oversees leadership and program administration, leads curriculum development, and collaborates with faculty in the Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership Graduate Group. She is committed to providing outstanding interprofessional academic learning experiences for students and teaches courses within the nursing program. Shana has a background in maternal-child nursing, administration, and leadership education. Her academic interests include curricular design and implementation, integration of technology to enhance learning, and factors that contribute to student success. Prior to her role at UC Davis, Shana was a faculty member at Pacific Union College, where she taught courses that introduced students to the role of a nurse and covered various aspects of health care management. Beginning in 2008, she served as the Chair of the Nursing Department and Nursing Program Director at PUC, overseeing both prelicensure and postlicensure nursing programs. Her clinical focus has been on the care of women and children, particularly during the labor and delivery phases of pregnancy. Shana has also held roles as a clinical nurse specialist and patient care services manager. She earned her Doctor of Education in Learning and Instruction from the University of San Francisco, and her Master of Nursing with a clinical specialization in Maternal-Child Nursing from UCLA. Shana received her undergraduate nursing degrees from Pacific Union College and has presented on topics related to simulation and indicators of student success in nursing.
