Biography

Shane Munro obtained his Medical Doctor degree in 1991 from Dalhousie University. He completed his internship at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, and went on to complete an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa, earning his Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certificate in 1996. His academic and clinical focus is on Comprehensive Ophthalmology, specifically Cataract and Intraocular Lens surgery, as well as general ophthalmology practice. Dr. Munro serves as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, imparting knowledge to medical students and residents. He is passionate about student education and works to foster a supportive learning environment. His professional interests include engaging in developmental training programs to enhance the quality of care in eye health services. His dedication to patient care and medical education is evident in his ongoing efforts to improve ophthalmology practices through research and collaboration with peers.
