Biography

Shane Ruter is a board-certified emergency medicine physician dedicated to providing exceptional care to a diverse population of patients at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center—Montlake Campus. As a clinical faculty member, he is committed to educating medical students and residents in emergency medicine. He serves on the Department of Emergency Medicine’s Quality Review Committee, emphasizing the importance of high-quality patient care. Dr. Ruter completed his undergraduate postbaccalaureate premedical studies at Amherst College and Columbia University, and received his MD from Brown University’s Alpert Medical School in 2007. After completing his residency training in emergency medicine at Boston Medical Center in 2011, he joined the faculty at UW Medicine. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Ruter enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing interests in running, rowing, and playing golf.
