Biography

R. Shane Williamson is a tenured Associate Professor and the Director of the Master of Architecture Program at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with Highest Honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University. As the Principal of Williamson Inc., a Toronto-based architecture design studio founded with partner Betsy Williamson in 2007, he creatively engages in digital tools to explore traditional construction techniques and tectonic expression. His research focuses on integrating digital fabrication and wood construction within a broader cultural context while linking design theories with sustainable building strategies. Over the last decade, his research has been supported by various Canadian institutions, including the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the National Research Council Canada. Williamson's work has been extensively published in notable architecture magazines and has been exhibited in prestigious venues across North America. His projects have garnered numerous awards, including the Ronald J.
