Biography

Shani Serrao currently serves as a full-time instructor at the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan (USask). She has a deep passion for nursing and is a Registered Nurse in Emergency Departments within the Saskatchewan Health Authority in Saskatoon. Shani's academic journey began at McMaster University where she earned an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. She then pursued a Master of Science degree at the University of Saskatchewan, conducting clinical trials focused on lifestyle interventions for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Throughout her professional career, Shani has assumed diverse roles including Nursing Unit Coordinator across various departments such as Medicine, Palliative Care, and Medical-Surgical Float Pool. These experiences have greatly shaped her development as a healthcare professional. In her personal life, Shani enjoys writing, traveling, attending live music shows, and playing board games, which she believes help forge genuine connections among people from all walks of life. Shani is particularly passionate about women's health, social justice, health equity, mental health, mental health literacy, and harm reduction.
