He is particularly drawn to questions regarding the global convergence and divergence in production techniques, systems, and forms of work during the 19th and 20th centuries. Shankar has also contributed editorially to notable newspapers, such as The Hindu, focusing on renewable energy policy and the interplay between scientific understandings and political life.
