Biography

Shannon Kolind is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine (Division of Neurology) at the University of British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Physics from the University of Victoria, earned in 2001, a Master of Science in Physics from the University of British Columbia in 2003, and a Ph.D. also in Physics from the University of British Columbia in 2008. She has extensive postdoctoral experience, which includes positions at the University of Oxford and the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London. Her research interests are in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, specifically the development of biologically-specific MRI techniques and new acquisition and analysis methods, with a strong focus on clinical research applications. Kolind's work has contributed to various significant advancements in the field, and she is involved in supervising students in the Medical Physics research group. Her accolades include several prestigious awards from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and other institutions recognizing her contributions to medical imaging and neuroscience research.
