Dr. Shannon Sibbald

Biography

Shannon L. Sibbald is an Associate Professor at Western University in the School of Health Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on health systems, with particular interests in the implementation, spread, and sustainability of integrated models of team-based care for chronic disease management. Sibbald employs qualitative research methods such as multiple-case comparisons, narrative approaches, grounded theory, and content discourse analysis. She supervises graduate programs in Health Rehabilitation Sciences and Health Information Science. Sibbald's work emphasizes integrated knowledge translation, actively involving knowledge-users and decision-makers in the research process. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and her research contributions have significantly aided in understanding team-based care dynamics and chronic disease management in a healthcare setting. In addition to her research activities, Sibbald is also a co-director at the Lab for Knowledge Translation and contributes to several health-related coalitions and initiatives in Ontario, reflecting her commitment to enhancing health care systems. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level, mentoring the next generation of health professionals.
