Shantanu Mishra is an Assistant Professor in Chemical Physics at Chalmers University. His research interests broadly center around the synthesis of single organic molecules and molecular nanostructures, studying the chemical and electronic properties at the atomic scale using low-temperature ultra-high vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Specific topics of interest include molecular structure imaging, molecular synthesis through scanning probe-based atom manipulation, charge-state transitions of single atoms and molecules on insulators, and experimental investigations of many-body electronic structures in molecular systems, particularly focusing on quantum spin systems. Shantanu joined Chalmers University in 2025 after completing a postdoctoral research position at IBM Research Division in Zurich, Switzerland. He earned his PhD in physics from the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA) in Dübendorf, Switzerland.
