Shanti Graheli is a historian and comparatist whose work focuses on the materiality of early modern books, exploring their production, circulation, and uses across borders. Trained in Italian Studies at the University of Udine, Italy, and Book History at the University of St Andrews, she worked for several years on the digital humanities project Universal Short Title Catalogue in St Andrews before joining the University of Glasgow in 2017 as a Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellow in Comparative Literature and Translation. Graheli’s research is internationally funded and she has held visiting appointments at prestigious institutions such as Houghton Library (Harvard) and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Her ongoing projects examine the dynamics of Italian Renaissance book circulation and reception, and she is particularly interested in the influence of early publishing firms during the Renaissance. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the British Comparative Literature Association and has recently joined the Board of Directors of the Scottish Library and Information Council.
