Biography

Shanti Raman is a Conjoint Professor at the University of New South Wales, in the School of Clinical Medicine. As a Consultant Paediatrician, her research and teaching interests are focused on the health of migrants and refugees, international maternal and child health, poverty, child rights, and child abuse and neglect. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW. Her role as a Community Paediatrician involves leading Child Protection services at the Sydney South West Area Health Service, where she provides clinical leadership and professional development training in child abuse and neglect. Dr. Raman has maintained a strong interest in international health, providing consultancy services in maternal, neonatal, and child health, and has worked on population-based research projects in India. She has been involved in policy development at national and state levels, as well as internationally, collaborating with organizations such as Royal Australasian College of Physicians and International Society for Social Pediatrics. Additionally, Dr. Raman leads the Maternal Neonatal Child Health Human Resources Knowledge Hub and has supervised numerous research projects for junior doctors and paediatric trainees in the Master of Public Health program.
