Biography

Shaokoon Cheng’s professional practice area is Mechanical Engineering design. His current research spans aerosol drug delivery and biomechanics design optimization using machine learning. Dr. Cheng pioneered the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering and the Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering at Macquarie University. His scientific contributions include over 140 peer-reviewed publications and six patents, along with numerous competitive research funding awards as a chief investigator, including international grants from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He is the founding director and chief technology officer of ASKSCIENTIA, where he leads the translation of cutting-edge research into manufacturable and scalable technologies for aerosol diagnostics and biomedical devices. Dr. Cheng currently leads a team of nine higher degree research students and two postdocs, having successfully supervised the completion of 18 HDR students. He offers highly supportive and responsive mentorship, providing training in fundamental research and innovation.
