Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Shaoning Jiang. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Dr. Jiang completed a PhD in Molecular Cellular Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and received postdoctoral training at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center (OUHSC). Since joining Yale Pathology as an assistant professor, Dr. Jiang has focused on independent research in understanding the epigenetic mechanisms linking inflammation to energy metabolism in the context of obesity and diabetes. His research explores two main areas: the role of macrophages, microRNAs, and adipose stem cells in regulating brown/beige adipogenesis and the epigenetic pathways associated with developmental programming of metabolic diseases stemming from maternal obesity and diabetes. Dr. Jiang’s current projects, funded by an NIH R01 grant and Yale Diabetes Research Center Pilot project grant, utilize mouse models and in vitro cultures to investigate these mechanisms and aim to identify therapeutic options for preventing metabolic diseases from their origins.
